Blowing in the wind. How much energy is produced?

The Challenge

Data

The data comes from a real wind farm and includes both the amount of electricity produced and the measured wind data. The wind measurements were taken hourly and record wind speed as well as wind direction at various heights. The power production, on the other hand, was recorded at 15-minute intervals. To match the temporal resolution of the wind data to that of the power measurements, the three missing wind measurement points between the hourly intervals were added through interpolation.

Task

The task is to predict the amount of electricity produced by a wind farm based on the measured wind data for 15-minute intervals. Measurement data from January 2016 to June 2017 is available for training, while predictions are to be made for the period from July to December 2017.
